Welcome to the new school year!

I have really enjoyed the last couple of days. The children have all been fantastic and settled in well.

Important

Please make sure PE kits are in school all week.  PE sessions are on Tuesdays and Fridays this term.

Reading-  please hear your child read every day. Sign their reading record book so you can share their progress with me.

Times Table Rockstars -The Times Tables Rockstar app is a fun way for your child to learn and remember their times tables. Please support your child to learn their tables by practising for 5 minutes each day. 

Homework - please practise reading, spellings and Times Tables with your child.  

Below is a short insight into some of the things we will be learning this half term.

In English, we will  develop our writing skills through our class book Trolls. We will be focussing on writing simple and more complex sentences.  Our final piece of writing will be a story with a clear beginning, middle an end.

In Maths, we will learn place value. How to count, read, write and order numbers to 20.  This will be followed by learning to add and subtract within 20.

In Religious Education,  the children will be learning about Creation using our new R. E scheme - The vine and the branches.

In Science, year the children will be investigation ' the seasons' - how the weather and trees/plants change throughout the year. They will also learn about materials and their properties.

In History,  the children will learn about how shopping has changed throughout the years.

In Geography, the children will learn geographical skills by investigation the school and it's grounds.

In Music, we will continue to learn with our external provider

In Physical Education, the children will learn the skills of athletics, focussing on both track and field events.

Finally, please keep your eye on our class dojo page for updates on events and pictures of your child's learning.
